I stand in place
Watching my lady fair
Studying her face

She followed a friend

I jumped in after her
Instinct, I forgot
My act, Love did spur

While in the murky drink
For her, I fished around

Still Hope wouldn't hide

Finally I saw her
Lying near a weed
Seeing that, I turn
Fear lending me speed

I'd been under too long
My lungs did burn
But I needed to strong
If only just for her

Cradling her with care
We headed for the land
Her lungs craving air
Me, bracing for Love's stand

Laying her on the shore
I saw that she was still
But my heart wanted more
And determined to cheat Death's till.

I pressed her to revive
I willed her to return
I prayed she's survive
So that Love's lessons we could learn

Seconds flew
And still no sound
My mood turned blue
Fear, my heart, had bound

Then Love reminded me
To stay the course
Not allowing me to flee
From Death's potent force

For her, I fought
For her, I'd win
Her freedom I sought
From Death's downward spin

Finally she sputtered
Taking one shallow breath
Gently her eyes fluttered
As Love cheated Death

Then our eyes met
She held onto me
As she slipped Doubt's net
Her feelings now free

So in the Loft, we are
Gazing through Love's eyes
Her eyes twinkling like stars
In the evening sky.

Faith was rewarded
Desire did that reinforce
Her warmth to me accorded
Because I stayed the course.

We love each other
That we understand
Stray we will no farther
From what Love has planned.
